We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Bali, visiting a year after the cowardly terrorist attacks. Bali has returned to its vibrant self, full of life. Famous for its beaches at Kuta, where most of the tourist population stays,
Sanur, slightly more expensive, Bali also boasts high end luxury for those who can afford it, with the likes of the two Alila resorts offering six star treatment.
Hard Rock Hotel Bali lies right smack in the middle of Kuta, around fifteen minute`s drive from the airport, and covers a huge area. Boasting the largest hotel pool in Bali, the pool surrounds the beach volleyball court and then some.
It`s huge, it`s beautiful and people do spend entire days just sitting by the pool, getting a massage at the pool side hut, and having some good food at the poolside bar.
Yes, the poolside bar serves a mean pizza and an excellent linguine carbonara.
The rooms are generous and the beds large and comfortable. The bathtub though, is triangular and can comfortably accomodate two, making this a really nice hotel for those on a budget honeymoon. Trust me, you`ll enjoy it.
MTV is ubiquitous, in your face on almost every tv screen around the hotel.
The hotel does boast their own in-house spa, a smaller private pool, and other facilities expected of a five star hotel. Mountains bikes are available for rent and surf instructors ready to teach.
Just behind the hotel are lanes and lanes of shopping, from international brands like Benetton and Ocean Pacific to local brands. Eateries offering every different kind of food, from pizza to beers and hamburgers, to local nasi lemak and
seafood are everywhere. Macdonalds has a number of outlets in downtown Kuta.
