About Desaru - The Pulai Desaru Beach Resort
The East Coast of West Malaysia is blessed with long swathes of golden sandy beaches lined with luxurious beach resorts, long crescants of fine white sand stretching almost as far as the eye can see. The waves coming in from the South China We had the chance to stay at the newly renovated Pulai Desaru Beach Resort, during October. The Pulai Desaru Hotel is a 4 star hotel, boasting close to 200 rooms and nice new facilities. Each room is decently large enough for the children to run around in, with a TV, a mini fridge, a choice of twin single beds or a queen sized double bed. The bathroom boasts marble flooring, with both a shower stall and a bathtub large enough for six footers to get a decent dip. The pool will be a favourite with the kids, with the winding water slide and the water fall. The waters wind around a central platform in the center and join up to a lap pool for those looking to exercise a few laps. The beach enjoys sunshine almost all year round, except the monsoon season from November to March does bring strong waves in from the South China Sea and sea sports like jet skiing, para sailing and fishing are stopped during the monsoon period. The food is fairly decent at the Seabreeze Cafe, which offers a choice of western cuisine like Black pepper steak. But we recommend trying the local cuisine. Opt for the chicken curry, which comes with a claypot brimming with steaming chicken curry, a plate of rice, achar and pappadam. Or the beef rendang, which is mildly spicy and really quite delicious. Breakfast also offers the usual bacon, sausages and omelette, but the local cuisine of mee goreng and nasi lemak is really quite good. Saturdays also sees the once weekly barbeque, held on the terrace, where dinner patrons have an option of having barbequed seafood, prawns on a stick, grilled stingray, grilled lamb, chicken or beef, satay, and lots more. Should inclement weather strike, there's plenty indoors to distract the kids. Table tennis, pool tables, even a game room for the kids. How to get there Cruise Ferries operates a ferry service from Singapore's Changi Ferry Terminal to Tanjung Belungkor Terminal. From Tanjung Belungkor, it's a 30 min trip by car to Desaru. Alternatively, Desaru is accessible by road from Johor Bahru via Kota Tinggi in a 90 min journey. Search for Desaru. |
