Beautiful beaches along the East Coast of West Malaysia
The east coast of Peninsular Malaysia is blessed with long crescents of sandy white beaches, with towering coconut trees and clear turqoise waters. From the north to the south, the entire coast is virtually an unspoilt haven for beach lovers, resort after resort, each one boasting more beautiful beaches and clearer waters than the next. Toward the north, along the coast of Trengganu is the new resort of Tanjong Jara. Off the coast lies the famous diving paradise of Redang Island, which boasts numerous hotels including the luxury Berjaya Redang. Nearby is Perhentian Island, consisting of Pulau Perhentian Kechil and Pulau Perhentian Besar, with Perhentian Besar being the more developed of the two. Moving southward, just south of Kuantan lies Cherating beach, location of one of the first Club Med outside of France. Further south, off Mersing, there's Tioman island, an island resort popular with tourists and locals alike. Nearby, there's Pulau Sibu, which boasts a rustic charm with its back-to-basics concept. Enjoyable and memorable for a cheap price. Near the southern tip of the peninsular, there's Desaru. Long stretches of shallow coastline for those who love to wade further out.
