Sibu Cabanas Resort on Pulau Sibu
Pulau Sibu, or Sibu Island, conveniently located just off the port town of Mersing on the east coast of Malaysia, suffers from the same affliction that plagues the entire east coast of Peninsular Malaysia :- Clear turqoise waters lapping up golden sandy beaches. Colorful coral reefs with an abundance of colorful marine life. There's little to do there, but recline in a deck chair enjoying a good book and a drink, getting tanned to a healthy golden brown, snorkelling to see the fishes in their marine enviroment, darting among the corals, learning to scuba dive among the scenic colorful coral reefs, boat out for a spot of fishing, and enjoying a the evenings and quiet twilight with a spot of good company and a glass of sweet red. At the Sibu Cabanas, a delightful little resort with bungalows boasting generous air-conditioned rooms, huge bouncy beds and a terrace that opens straight onto the sand I had the luxury of enjoying 5 very relaxing days ( and nights ). And the food was even better. Their kitchen serves a simple yet tasty home cooked fare. Not restricted by breakfast or lunch hours found in larger resorts, you could wake up at eleven, let the cook know you were ready for breakfast, wash up, and in fifteen minutes a steaming hot omelette, sausages, beans and a glass of orange juice would be ready for you on the dining terrace. Perhaps aided by the fact that these islands was far less well known compared to her cousins in the North, Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Sibu has thus far not been spoiled by teeming masses of tourist, allowing travellers privacy and quiet. My companions and me enjoyed the entire beach to ourselves for almost the entire length of our stay. But a good thing leaks out sooner or later. In the meanwhile, Pulau Sibu remains a choice spot for a spot of private relaxation and golden sunshine. Search for Sibu. |
