Chamonix and Mont-Blanc, France
The host of the first Winter Olympic games way back in 1924, Chamonix is located at the foot of Mont-Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and the second highest in Europe at 4,810 m. Chamonix Mont-Blanc also holds bragging rights both for its lift-served vertical drop of 2807 meters and for having one of the world's longest runs ( Vallée Blanche), a total distance of 22 km. |
